The Drive For Passion

What is it that drives us to seek out a mate
Is it just so we won't be alone
Surely it can't be as simple as that
For think of the miles some have flown

Could it be that the reason is a matter of lust
That it's sex sought with somebody new
One could misconstrue that for many that's true
But if so wouldn't anyone do

No, surely there's more to what pushes us onward
Surely it's more than these things
Companions and sex partners are easy to find
And great numbers we pass as with wings

There's a fire within us that grows ever greater
Which can only be put out by passion
And the fire knows within whom it grows
The fire equal in size and in fashion
