Who Lights A Flame

WHO LIGHTS A FLAME
WHO LIGHTS A FLAME
Who sets a spark that kindles warm
Anothers life aglow,
Though he, himself, be poor and mean,
Earths rarest joy shall know
That he, in humble struggling hour,
Should touch anothers life with power
And light a flame!
The flame whose vibrant rays may reach
To far-flung Isles unknown,
And quicken men to pulsing life-
Such gift were worth a throne.
If things we long for be witheld,
And Fate deride our futile plan,
Yet surely it were worth lifes span
To light a flame.
